With top light illumination using area lights, there is a significant drop in brightness at the edges. For this reason, the illuminator would generally have to be twice as large as the measuring surface to ensure homogeneous brightness.
Another possible solution is our VAC top light with cosine correction. Here, the luminaire only needs to be as large as the measuring surface. Depending on the distance between the luminaire and the measuring surface, the outer light ring can be adjusted so that the entire surface is evenly illuminated right up to the edge area.
Furthermore, the brightness on the measuring surface can be up to 4 times brighter than with conventional light systems.
Due to the reflection of the light in the components, this application is preferably suitable for slightly reflective or matt components. The following also applies to shiny objects: the illuminated surface is twice the measuring surface.
As we are the manufacturer of the lights ourselves, we can offer customized lights with short delivery times and at reasonable prices.
This special assembly consists of 2 coordinated lighting systems in one housing.
The light can be equipped for a wide range of applications in industrial image processing in various shades of white, but also in monochrome light colors.
Cosine correction with external controller
This is precisely where our strength lies. Because planistar manufactures the lights in-house, we can produce customised backlighting with short delivery times.
So you don't have to follow our standard programme. We adapt exactly to your requirements and the conditions on site.
This saves you costs in theOur production processes are planned in such a way that a customised light has almost the same throughput as a standard light. The only difference is that the customised luminaire is precisely documented. This means that we are able to supply replacements even years later.

Lights direct from the manufacturer
When revising the product series, we always take sustainability into account, as many small details add up to a big picture.
This starts with saving resources and energy, the right choice of materials we use, right through to packaging and disposal.
The cos4 law describes the natural drop in peripheral light. It states that the image brightness decreases by a factor of cos 4 α compared to the brightness in the center of the image when imaging a uniformly bright subject through a lens. The image brightness B ( α ) in the angle outside the image center is:
B ( α ) = B0 ⋅ cos 4 α
With conventional incident light illumination, there is always an edge fall-off. The greater the distance between the measuring surface and the light, the greater this light fall-off will be.
Thanks to planistar's special development, the natural light fall-off can be compensated directly on site. This means that the entire measuring surface is evenly illuminated, ensuring optimum evaluation in industrial image processing.
Our panel lights can be produced in almost any size.
You will find 3 different standard sizes as sample dimensions in our catalog. In most cases, we are provided with the measuring surface. This allows us to adapt the incident light to the conditions in your system.
The main electronics are already built into the fitting. Here, all the currents of the LEDs are managed.
The correction can be set using our external Controller2-Cos or your own controller.
The brightness of the outer light zone can be adjusted via a potentiometer or a 1-10 V interface.
The entire lighting unit is activated via an optocoupler switching input. This trigger input reacts from 5 V TTL up to 24 V PLC.
Cosine correction with external controller
If the cable diameter in the supply line is too small, 2 individual wires are often combined to achieve double the diameter.
However, this is not permitted according to VDE!
In this case, a cable break reduces the wire size without it being apparent at first glance. This jeopardizes the safety of the entire system.
For this reason, we at planistar use a Sub-D plug with 2 high-current contacts that can be subjected to loads of up to 20 A. The specially developed connection cable also has 2 cores with 1.5 mm² in order to be able to carry high currents with only a low voltage drop.
Our team will be at your disposal for any questions you may have. We will process your request as soon as possible.
