LED toplight with proven technology for simple applications

For simple incident light applications for continuous operation with a very good price/performance ratio. With different sizes and brightness variants. The current controller is already integrated into the luminaire. An external controller is therefore not required.

Sled-2-VA

LED toplight in bright and stable design for continuous lighting applications

The diffuse incident lighting has a narrow edge; the current controllers are already integrated here as well. The LEDs are therefore optimally operated at all times. From a certain size, an optocoupler switch input is installed so that the LED panel can be de-energised via a signal. A status indicator is installed together with the optocoupler.

Small to very large luminaires can be designed with this type. These have an anti-reflective surface, which prevents reflections in your measuring task of industrial image processing.

Sled-2-VAC

bright and stable LED incident light with cosine correction

The LED incident lighting has a narrow edge; the current controllers are already integrated here as well. The LEDs are therefore optimally operated at all times. The optocoupler switch input allows the luminaire to be de-energised with a signal from 5 to 24 V. A status indicator is installed together with the optocoupler.

The special feature is the intentionally uneven illumination of the luminaire. The typical edge fall-off on the measuring surface is compensated by the luminaire spacing.

LED toplight in flat design

This ultra-flat panel luminaire with an overall height of only 10 mm can be used wherever space is limited. Even with this low luminaire height, the light is uniformly illuminated over the edges by a special flat light guide.

Xled-3-VA

very bright LED toplight for continuous operation and flash mode

Whether continuous operation or flash mode: These light panels are designed for both scenarios. In this way, both modes are available for the visual inspection task on site. The operating mode must only be determined when the diffuse incident lighting is installed. In addition to the switch inputs for continuous and flash mode, the luminaire has a 1–10 V interface for external brightness control. From 1 V at the interface, the luminaire automatically switches to interface operation; a mechanical changeover at the built-in controller in the LED panel luminaire is not necessary.

The LED panel has a built-inmicro controller which monitors the currents, the duration of input signal, and the pulse/pause ratio in flash mode. This prevents operating errors and overloading of the LEDs.

Worth knowing about the planistar surface illumination as diffuse incident light

Many selection criteria have to be considered, especially for incident lighting, in order to achieve the desired lighting effect. We have put together a small selection for you, according to which we also select the suitable lighting for an image processing system.

Why diffuse incident light applications in industrial image processing?

Panel luminaires must be very uniform in order to be able to reliably evaluate edges or translucent materials in conjunction with industrial image processing.

With conventional matrix systems, where the LEDs are located directly under the luminous surface, the failure of only one LED means that correct evaluation cannot take place with glossy test pieces. The dark point in the luminous surface is reflected in the test piece, and the image processing software would report a rejected part.

The LED luminous surfaces of planistar, on the other hand, remain stable in brightness and illumination over a long period of time. This means that nothing can stand in the way of image processing over the entire service life of the application.

A further advantage of edge lighting for diffuse incident light is that the light guide can be interrupted at any point and in any shape, e.g. to provide keyhole openings for grippers, oblong holes for line scan cameras or openings for other mechanisms.

It all depends on determining the correct size of the luminaire

A complex but important topic is to determine the correct size of a diffuse incident light with camera cut-out for image processing. The test piece and the inspection task must always be taken into account!

Most toplights are designed too small:

Luminous area = measuring area
Unfortunately, this does not work.

If the surface emits diffuse and uniform light, the measuring surface of the same size is not illuminated in a diffuse and uniform manner!

It is necessary to consider the light incident or reflected by the test object and not the light emitted by the luminaire. Especially with reflecting objects, it is important that the luminous area is at least twice as large as the measuring area.

This is due to the fact that the camera only sees the reflection of the luminaire in the test object. The camera angle always yields twice the size, no matter how large the camera distance is.

In the case of slightly shiny or matt test objects, the luminaire can be reduced in size by supplementing the missing reflection by the luminaire with white matt side panels. The luminaire unit must also be slightly larger than the measuring surface, otherwise there will be no more reflection in the edge area. This saves costs and reduces space requirements. At the same time, extraneous light is sealed off, which could otherwise falsify the measurement.

Apertures for surface illumination with cut-out

Our surface illumination in combination with white matt side panels is an ideal solution for many image processing tasks. Similar to a dome, diffuse light is distributed throughout the interior.
