LED panel luminaire from planistar

We offer a variety of different types and sizes for your inspection tasks in industrial image processing. The equipped colour temperatures range from a daylight spectrum of approx. 5000–6000 K (Ra > 85) to all common monochrome colours.

Sled-1-VD

LED panel luminaire with proven technology for simple applications

For simple contour applications or transmitted light applications for continuous operation with a very good price/performance ratio, in various sizes and brightness variants. The current controller is already integrated into the luminaire. An external controller is therefore not required.

Sled-2-VD

LED panel luminaire in bright and stable design for continuous lighting applications

The panel luminaire has a narrow edge; here too, the current controller is already integrated. The LEDs are therefore optimally operated at all times. From a certain size, an optocoupler switch input is installed so that the LED panel can be de-energised via a signal. A status indicator is installed together with the optocoupler.

Small to very large luminaires can be designed with this type. The surface has an anti-reflective treatment, so there are no reflections in your measuring task for industrial image processing.

Sled-2-VD-Flat

LED panel luminaire in flat design

This ultra-flat panel luminaire with an overall height of only 10 mm can be used wherever space is limited. Even with this low luminaire height, the light is evenly illuminated over the edges by a special flat light guide.

Xled-3-VD

very bright LED panel luminaires for continuous operation as well as flash mode

Whether continuous operation or flash mode: These light panels are designed for both scenarios. In this way, both modes are available for the visual inspection task on site. The operating mode must only be determined when the panel luminaire is installed. In addition to the switch inputs for continuous and flash mode, the luminaire has a 1–10 V interface for external brightness control. From 1 V at the interface, the luminaire automatically switches to interface operation (a mechanical changeover at the built-in controller in the LED panel luminaire is not necessary).

The LED panel has a built-inmicro controller which monitors the currents, the duration of input signal, and the pulse/pause ratio in flash mode. This prevents operating errors and overloading of the LEDs.

Worth knowing about the planistar surface illumination

The origin for edge lighting is planistar. This where the technology was developed and a patent applied for. In the course of the years, planistar’s methods and procedures for illumination were constantly improved and are now used in many areas in our everyday life.

Why transmitted light applications in industrial image processing?

Panel luminaires must be very uniform so that a reliable evaluation of edges or translucent materials can be carried out in conjunction with industrial image processing.

With conventional matrix systems, in which the LEDs are located directly under the luminous surface, the failure of only one LED means that a correct evaluation can no longer take place, because a grey scale fall-off occurs immediately in the measuring surface. In contrast, with the planistar edge lighting system there is usually no noticeable difference in the uniformity of illumination.

The LED luminous surfaces of planistar, on the other hand, remain stable in brightness and illumination over a long period of time. So nothing stands in the way of long-lasting image processing over the entire service period of the image processing system.

What is edge lighting?

The actual light source (mainly LEDs with planistar) is not located under the luminous surface, but outside in the edge. A special light guide with dot matrix system distributes the light evenly or intentionally unevenly over the luminous surface.

This technology also allows a large area to be realised in a very energy-efficient way. Conventional lighting technologies, on the other hand, require vast quantities of LEDs or a deep installation space in order to achieve such a uniform illumination of a surface.

Where does the edge lighting come from?

On 25.6.1982, Gerhard Karl, founder of planistar Lichttechnik GmbH, applied for a patent for edge lighting. This technology is used today in many areas such as smartphones, laptops and televisions.

planistar developed a calculation program and acquired a wealth of knowledge and experience in calculating and producing panel light conductors in various forms.
